Women's Fitness and Health!
Welcome! The title of this page sounds awkward because normally you hear the title as "Health and Fitness." I chose to flip-flop the words because I feel that fitness leads to health and I want to emphasize the importance of being fit! This page is designed specifically with women in mind, but I am sure men can find some of the information in here useful too. I especially hope that this page will be useful for women who are consider themselves beginners and that includes women who have visited the gym a few times but didn't get much out of it! The content of this site will be directed towards exercises that can be done in a health gym.
There are two types of exercise that I will be concentrating on: aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic exercise is fueled by energy-forming processes in the body that require oxygen. I like to think of this type of exercise as the fat-burning exercise that gives you the great cardiovascular workout! Conversely, the energy-forming processes that occur in anaerobic exercise do not require a constant flow of oxygen. I like to think of this as the toning/strengthening exercise(1). I hope you enjoy the site!
Important Notes:The information in this site has been gathered from books, magazines, other on-line sites, and my own personal experiences. Therefore, this site is not an indefinite authority on fitness, but, instead, hopefully a helpful guide.
The citations will be cited with numbers. An example would be: Eating is a necessity(4). The citation is (4) and the information can be found on the Bibliography and Endnotes Page.
