Figure 2: Initial Search Page. I was thinking here was where a user could choose to browse a rough hierachy or comprehensive listing of metadata versus going to a more directed search. I didn't finish the picture but the page was meant to be a split view sort of thing, specialized search on left, browsing on right.

Rest of pages: These are different types of searches that could be done, the advanced search would be kind of a conglomeration of all metadata search functionality versus individual searches that make it simpler for the user to focus on just one aspect (i.e. title of case, court/jurisdiction, or parties involved.
I tried to address the search needs of users and users coming to the site with different goals and as well as different knowledge and information needs.
