Affiliates Program

Through its Affiliates Program, the iSchool seeks to establish partnerships with leading institutions in the information industry. The program offers partner institutions access to current iSchool research and exposes iSchool students to real, contemporary information management challenges through a summer internship program. iSchool affiliates also have the opportunity to recruit students into career positions after graduation.

Affiliate benefits include:

Contact with faculty: iSchool faculty members are among the leading educators and researchers in their fields. Their expertise covers a broad range of disciplines, with current research covering information organization and retrieval, human-computer interaction, information economics and policy, information assurance, and social studies of information. We encourage faculty to develop informal relationships with affiliates, which may lead to more formal consulting and research collaboration

Student recruiting: The iSchool admits approximately 40 students per year to its two-year Master's program and 3-5 students per year to its Ph.D. We seek out students who bring technical proficiency, vision, willingness to collaborate, and a wide range of perspectives to the iSchool table. iSchool affiliates gain convenient Web access to student resumes to help them hire students for summer internships and full-time career opportunities. See our Employer Resources for more information.

Publications: Affiliates receive faculty publications, research announcements, and other relevant materials.

Conferences: Affiliates are invited to at least two special conferences per year on current topics in information management. We will soon offer invitations to additional conferences and campus events.

Communication: The iSchool consults with affiliates to learn about their needs and gain their perspective on the evolving information industry. By shaping our curriculum to reflect feedback from affiliates, we seek to produce information leaders with the knowledge, skills, and vision to serve today's businesses.
